The Brief
An international lifestyle magazine commissioned a ten-day assignment in Tokyo to produce a thirty-image editorial documenting the city's contemporary urban culture — fashion, food, architecture, and the texture of daily life in the world's most densely populated metropolis.
Our Approach
Tokyo editorial work rewards patience and observation over planning. We spent the first two days walking without cameras, identifying the rhythms and locations that felt genuinely alive. The assignment was shot entirely in natural and ambient artificial light — no additional lighting at any point. The Sony A7C V's compact form factor allowed us to work in spaces where a larger kit would have been intrusive.
The Outcome
Thirty images ran across a twelve-page feature in the magazine's Asia issue. The assignment was subsequently acquired by the magazine's international editions for syndication.
