A series of intimate portraits made during the last light of the day in the Blue City.
The Brief
A personal project exploring how the quality of late-afternoon light in Jodhpur — refracted through the dust that hangs in the air across the Thar Desert — creates a particular warmth and texture that is not reproduceable anywhere else in India.
Our Approach
We spent five evenings in Jodhpur's old city, working with residents who agreed to be photographed. All work was done with a 50mm prime, available light only, and no prior arrangement of the frame — we composed and shot within the moment rather than directing or staging.
The Outcome
The series produced thirty final frames and was exhibited as a printed show at a Mumbai gallery. The work was subsequently featured in two photography publications and licensed for editorial use.
