A broad editorial assignment documenting the intersection of South Asian fashion and New York culture.
The Brief
A global fashion publication commissioned a feature on the emergence of Indian designers in the New York fashion ecosystem — the designers, the buyers, the community spaces, and the visual language that results from Indian craft meeting American urbanism.
Our Approach
The assignment was structured around ten subjects — five designers and five figures from the broader New York South Asian creative community. Each was photographed in a location meaningful to their practice. We shot across eight days, working primarily in available light with occasional bounce flash for interior portraits. The Sony FX3 was used for additional video material that accompanied the print feature online.
The Outcome
The feature ran across fourteen pages in the publication's annual fashion issue and generated significant reader response. Several of the designers photographed credited the feature with international wholesale enquiries they had not previously received.
